Amulya Vishwanath is the founder and managing partner of Techable Ventures, a VC firm focused on physical AI . She started the firm after nearly seven years as a product marketer at Nvidia. Before that, she held the same role at a company later bought by Intel, and she worked as a digital signal processing engineer at Interconnect Systems, which Molex later acquired.
Speaking on TechCrunch's Equity podcast, Vishwanath said many companies and experts are talking about a ChatGPT moment for robotics . In her view, the industry is currently in more of a LEGO era. She said a lot of foundational software and building blocks for robotics are being rethought right now, and that this work is essential for innovation to scale.
Builders are now working on the basics, such as robotic hands and actuators , which can eventually combine into bigger systems the way LEGO pieces do. Both general-purpose robots and special-purpose robots are under development, and they should become more advanced as work continues. Vishwanath compared this phase to the internet era and the Industrial Revolution, saying it is just a matter of time before things fall into place.
Vishwanath said talent will be very critical and is still a key definer of the U.S. market. She described connecting founders to top talent as one of her firm's moats, which matters as so much talent goes to big companies like Anthropic and Nvidia. She said the network she has built over her years in the field makes it easier for her to be the first call for founders.
