The Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group in Artificial Intelligence (ACM SIGAI) is soliciting nominations for its 2027 Autonomous Agents Research Award, according to an announcement published on Robohub on 20 October 2026. The award is made for excellence in research in the area of autonomous agents and is intended to recognise researchers whose current work is an important influence on the field.
The award is an official ACM award, funded by an endowment created by ACM SIGAI from the proceeds of previous Autonomous Agents conferences. The recipient will receive a monetary prize and a certificate, and will be invited to give a plenary talk at the AAMAS 2027 conference.
Anyone can make a nomination through an online form. A nomination should be a short statement of less than one page that sets out not only the research contributions that merit the award but also how the nominee's current work is influencing the field. SIGAI stresses that a candidate can only be considered if they are explicitly nominated, and urges supporters not to assume that somebody else will put a name forward.
Nominations close on 5 December 2026, and the winner will be announced on 1 February 2027. The AAMAS 2027 conference, where the recipient will present, takes place in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 3 to 7 May 2027. Questions can be directed to Award Chair Sven Koenig or SIGAI Vice Chair Louise Dennis.
