Upwind Reaches Unicorn Status With New Funding

Bessemer and Picture Capital Back Series B

The latest round was backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, whose team included Elliott Robinson, Sameer Dholakia and Alex Yuditski, alongside Picture Capital. Earlier funding included a Series A supported by Craft and led by Mike Robinson and David Sacks. Seed backers included Cyberstarts founder Gili Raanan, Greylock’s Saam Motamedi, Gideon Hayden of Leaders Fund, Bryant Barr of Penny Jar Capital and NBA star Stephen Curry.

Platform Targets Complexity Across Modern Cloud Infrastructure

Upwind builds a cloud security platform for modern infrastructure, where rising data volumes and accelerating artificial intelligence adoption have outpaced traditional security models. The company positions its technology for continuous change and real-world complexity rather than the simplified assumptions behind legacy approaches. It intends to extend coverage across AI, data and code as the platform develops.

New Capital Will Expand Growth and Security Coverage

Upwind’s founding traces back to a conversation during a family trip, when co-founder Omri Casspi introduced the idea to early backers who moved quickly to support it. The company says seed-stage support from Cyberstarts and Greylock involved close engagement with technical leaders and iterative feedback. With the new capital, Upwind plans to increase growth, invest in its platform, scale customer support and broaden coverage across AI, data and code security.
