Mecka AI raised a $60M Series B led by Sequoia, with Nvidia and Microsoft's M12 also investing.
TechCrunch earlier reported the round was nearing a $500 million valuation, a sign of strong investor interest in robotics data.
Mecka pays people to record everyday tasks using body sensors and smartphones, which turns human motion into robot training data.
Rivals include XDOF, reportedly in talks at a $1.2B valuation, as well as Scale AI and Micro1, which are moving into robotics.

Building a Scale AI-Style Data Model for Robotics
Founded in 2024, Mecka wants to do for robotics what Scale AI, Mercor, Surge, and other data-labeling companies have done for LLMs. Those companies supply the human-generated data these systems learn from. Mecka pays people to record themselves doing everyday tasks, like making coffee or fixing cars, while wearing body sensors and using smartphones.
Competition Grows Among Real-World Robot Training Data Providers
Other startups collect real-world data for robot training too, including XDOF. According to TechCrunch's previous reporting, XDOF was in talks to raise a Series B round at a $1.2 billion valuation. Human-data platforms that started out serving large language models , such as Scale AI and Micro1, are also expanding into robotics.
