Revolut Adds ChatGPT Go Across Subscription Tiers

ChatGPT Go Extends Features Beyond OpenAI’s Free Tier

ChatGPT Go provides higher usage limits , expanded image generation, additional file uploads, document analysis and persistent memory compared with OpenAI’s free tier. Tara Massoudi, partner and general manager for premium products at Revolut, said the company wants to provide tools that are part of customers’ everyday lives beyond finance. Revolut positions AI as an essential service rather than a discretionary benefit.

Bundling Supports Revolut’s Paid-Plan Value Proposition

The partnership extends Revolut’s strategy of using the financial account as an aggregation point for lifestyle and productivity services. The model aims to reduce customer churn and increase average revenue per user across subscription tiers. Revolut cited a combined value of £4,000 per year across services included in its Ultra plan, based on individual retail prices.

Undisclosed Terms Leave Bundle Economics Unclear

The commercial terms of the OpenAI arrangement were not disclosed, leaving unclear whether Revolut is subsidising licences, sharing revenue or receiving support from OpenAI for distribution. This affects the unit economics because subsidised third-party benefits could reduce margins if they do not drive sufficient conversion to paid plans. The arrangement comes as competition for paid current-account customers intensifies among neobanks and incumbent retail banks.

AI Distribution Raises Competition And Oversight Questions

Super-app positioning is becoming a competitive battleground, with digital banks offering bundles covering travel insurance, streaming and wellness. The market question is whether AI productivity tools prove more retentive than media or travel benefits after promotional periods expire. For OpenAI, the partnership provides distribution through Revolut’s reported base of more than 75 million retail customers globally, while data-sharing arrangements between a regulated payment institution and an AI provider may attract attention from the FCA and potentially the ICO.
